I was stationed in Hawaii for a few years and found it to be very expensive because everything has to be shipped in. There are parts of the islands that are tourist traps. Many of the people that are originally from Hawaii have animosity for anyone who lives there that is not from the island. They are fine with people visiting but they want them to go home afterwards. There is pineapple everywhere and to get there you can’t drive you have to take a 4 hour plane ride. Hawaiian culture is different than most have experienced. It is one of the last states to be admitted into the United States and is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. There are tons of surfing spots and many hikes that people can go on. You can drive from the snowy peaks to the sunny beaches in a day! My mother in law doesn’t like Hawaii because she is allergic to the sun and has to cover up.
