Narrative writing unit

You will be making a book which reflects you over the course of the next two semesters. Be thinking of what you would want to do to make the book completely yours. Think about the shape it will be; what color, what symbols of yours you might put into the book and how you will decorate the book. Make it neat, expressive of yourself and something you can be proud of.

2/20 10 years from now: where do you hope to be in 10 years? This is a broad question and I expect you to answer it on many different levels (professionally, educationally, economically ect.) write an essay in which you explore the possibilities of your future goals. 300 words.

2/27 Letter to a grandchild: In this unit you will write a letter to a future grandchild to be opened on the grandchild’s16th birthday. It will include a description of yourself, your goals, the “world” you live in, and advice or counsel for the future. You will turn it in to me in an envelope marked ‘To My Grandchild’ with your name as the return address. I will grade this paper sticker on the envelope so that it can be removed and the letter saved for real use.

Are you more like…

The purpose of this assignment is to write about who you are, or at least who you think you are by exploring yourself using the comparison of everyday objects and themes that are listed below. Your task is to complete five of the essays below.

Your essays will have two paragraphs. In the first paragraph, you are to answer the question by quickly listing the main attributes that each choice possesses (about 75 words for the first paragraph).

In this second paragraph, you will defend your answer by examining yourself, identifying personality quirks, and discussing personal experiences (300 words for the second paragraph).

I prefer that entries be typed and well organized. You will be graded on the quality of the work you turn in.

I expect all work to be typed, double-spaced. Since this assignment is to be an expression of you, you may choose your font (I only ask that you choose a readable font please.)
