Dear Parents and Students:
I am pleased to be able to help your student in English Lab. I feel that many students that come to me in Lab are students that are either missing a key element in English reading or writing, or learn differently than the typical teacher teaches. I will work on ways for student to learn in his/her best way and help the student understand how to advocate for themselves.
During the first half of English Lab, we will be working on fluency, basic writing skills, reading aloud, questioning the text, and answering comprehension questions. The rest of the period I ask the students to work on their English homework. As the student is working on English in class, I will be able to help students and ensure that they understand the concepts. EVENTHOUGH THEY WILL WORK ON ENGLISH DURING LAB, THEY WILL MORE THAN LIKELY STILL HAVE ENGLISH HOMEWORK!
It is possible for your student to pass Lab but not English: English asks students to turn in all of their work and students try their absolute best, while Lab asks that the students follow along and participate when needed.
