Book report guidelines
5-7 minutes
May have 5-7 notecards but should not be read from
PROOF of what the book says should be included in conversation, for instance when discussing the difference in one of the phantoms that haunt Scrooge the speaker could draw upon a description of the phantom. On page 13, first whole paragraph in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens it says: “But how much greater was his horror, when the phantom taking off the bandage round its head, as if it were too warm to wear in-doors, its lower jaw dropped down upon his breast!”
Speaker must include:
book title and author,
when and where movie was viewed
which movie version (if applicable)
who main actors were
speaker must discuss:
(emphasis should be on book with references to the movie)
what main character looked like, acted like, spoke like, etc in imagination compared to what it looked like in the movie
other main characters in imagination vs movie version
setting differences
plot differences
conflict differences
what the movie did well compared to imagination
what movie did horribly compared to imagination
Also include:
why did speaker choose this movie and this book?
Which did the speaker like more? Why?
What kind of a person would like this book?
