Dear Parents and Students

The sixth grade Science Fair will be held on February 20 to be followed by the school Science Fair which will be held February 23-27. Things are going to work a little bit differently this year, so if you’ve had sixth graders previous years, please be sure to read this completely so you know of the changes.

This year, we are supplying the students with six questions to choose from. For the list of these, please see Worksheet 1 of the Science Fair Packet. These questions are specifically chosen to get the students thinking more scientifically minded as they work their way through their project. It is still possible for a student to choose outside of these projects.  If a student wishes to do this, there is a submission form on the back of Worksheet 1. He/she has to fill it out and get the question approved before beginning his/her project.

All 6th grade students will participate in the 6th grade Science Fair.  At that point, projects will be selected to continue onto the school fair, where judges will score the projects based on Weber State’s Science Fair judging sheet.  The top project will continue on to represent our school at the Weber State Science Fair.

All sixth grade students are required to turn in a project. Parents are encouraged to guide students, but not build the project.

Please see and review the science fair rules, located in the back of the packet, with your child.

Sincerely,

SAA 6th Grade Team
