Next Week: January 26-30

Math: Math Blog

L.A.: The next few weeks are going to be a little bit different from normal, and different from what I originally thought.  The State of Utah has come out and told us that the testing window for the End of Level Writing Test will be February 2-20.  We plan on taking this that last week.  First and foremost, if you plan on being out of town at all during the week of February 16-20, please tell us as soon as possible, so we can have your student take this test before they leave.

This window is coming a little sooner than we expected, so for the next few weeks, we are going to slack a bit from our reading textbook, and make a bit of a push on writing.  They will still have the writing rotation with Mr. Henson, but there will a push for writing coming from homeroom as well.

We will still do spelling and grammar.  We will have a grammar quiz this week which focuses on last weeks topics, Adjectives and Adverbs.  We will also work some with different types of punctuation. I.E. Commas for phrases, parenthesis for breaks in thought, and dashes, a different way of showing parenthetical thought. We will work with Reader’s Notebook pages 244-249.

Spelling: Spelling Lists

Science: On Monday, I will present the students with a hypothetical science experiment.  We will walk through how the scientific method worked with this particular experiment, filling out a pseudo-science fair packet along the way.  On Tuesday, they will create a miniature science fair board, so they have a good idea as to how their final project should look. Wednesday and Thursday we will continue back into normal routine with direct instruction on our previously started Light unit.

SCIENCE FAIR: Due Monday – Question Selected; Thursday – Worksheet 1 Competed.
