Here is the grand list of actual lessons and assignments we will be doing this week. Are you ready?
That’s it! And I did have it listed last week, but we didn’t have time to get to it.
We may also do a little bit with Adding and Subtracting Integers, but it will all be in class activities. I have lots of reasons for keeping this week so short. First and most importantly, it’s the week before a big break. These kids have been pushing really hard lately, especially in math, so I figured we could slow it down a bit before the break. We’re also a bit ahead of the other classes, so this with allow them to get caught up with us. We also have a ton of things planned this week, from a band concert to the school Geography Bee, to our class party, so time is going to be short. Not giving out new tasks will also give me chance to go back and review some of the harder things off the last test.
Speaking of the last test, I just want to put it out there that it was probably the hardest test we have ever given for a unit test. I guarantee the kids will vouch for that (and I mean all of the 6th graders, not just our class). We pulled all of our questions from the SAGE pool, and it really stretched their limits. I’ve had extensive talks with them, to the point that I gave them a “retake” using last year’s test on this unit to give them a chance to raise their grade some. I am not too concerned about the lower grades, but it will definitely be something we hit and review throughout the remainder of the year.
Enjoy the easy week, because we’ll be hitting hard once again when we come back.
