Playwriting

Due Tuesday September 17:

Write a scene.  Please type it to turn in.

5 minutes long

Must use

1:  2-4 characters

2:  place (list where it happens)

3:  problem to solve

(list these at the top of the paper)

 

Then mark each of the following in your scene:

4:  inciting incident

5:  complication

6:  rising action

7:  dark moment (until….)

8:  turning point (unless….)

9:  climax

10:  resolution

Song As Monologue

Student will:

1:  Type or write out the lyrics for a section of a musical theatre song.

2:  Students must mark all beats in the song. (/)

3:  Students must write in the actions for each beat (ex.: to punch, to slash) and number each.

4:  Students must memorize and act out their song as a monologue in class.  Please work on using facial expression, body language, and make it as believable as possible.

Students will perform these in class Thursday, September 12.

Pantomime Project

Students must create a pantomime project to present in class.

They are required to:

1:  Walk into a “space” (room) looking for a specific object.

2:  They must interact with at least 3 objects in the room while looking for their object.

3:  They must use or interact with the object that they find which they were looking for.

4:  They must then leave the room.  They can take the pantomimed object with them when they leave or leave it in the room.

BE Specific!

Projects to be performed Thursday, September 12.

Visit a Public Place:

Write a one page paper in paragraph form about everything you observe around you in this place.

Be certain to include observations for each of the 5 senses (you must mention each one to get full credit):

What do you see?  What do you hear?  What do you feel?  What do you taste?  What do you smell?

Also write about one person you see in the space and what you observe them doing.  (The observation of this person must be included to get full credit).

Assignment due September 10.
