Big Buddy Little Buddy. That way we’re not gender specific. We’ve started a program this year, and after the first two weeks of it, I really wonder why I haven’t done it before. Once a week, we travel down to the kindergarten side of the school. Each of my students is buddies up with two or three kinder buddies. They read with them. They work letters with them. They work numbers with them. Most important, they become an older role model to the wee ones. In all my years of teaching, I have never seen sixth graders get so excited for something! They squee with glee every time we get to go over there!
