These next two weeks are going to be a little strange for our scheduling. We are going to be taking what are called Interim tests. They are tests that basically assess where the students currently are on the 6th grade curriculum. It will show us as teachers how well they’ve gotten what we have taught, as well as some of what they already know on what we haven’t taught.

L.A.: We will be starting a new story and new unit this week. Because of the interim testing, we are going to forego the unit test and just move straight into the next unit. Our story this week will be “The Real Vikings”. We will be doing this same story of the next two weeks. This week will include Reader’s Notebook pages 207-213.
Our vocab words are pictured below. Our five focus words this week are majestic, artistry, embodied, unearthed, and ruthless. Our skill this week is the Greek roots geo, which means Earth, graph, which means write, therm, which means heat, hydra, which means water, tele, which means distance, and opt, which means eye.

Science: We ended last year by finishing up the Heat Unit. I plan on reviewing that quiz first thing this week just to review the heat unit before we move on. We will also be watching a Bill Bye video on Light and Color.
