L.A.: We have decided as a sixth grade team, that rotating stories once a week, doesn’t allow us to cover the concepts as deeply as we would like, because we’re always introducing new things, rather than diving further into the material. With that, we are going to push some of our stories two weeks to allow for further comprehension. This means we will be skipping some stories. We will still be covering the material with the other stories, we just won’t be reading the stories themselves.
The first week of this is this week. We will still be reading Children of the Midnight Sun this week. Because it’s last week’s story, we won’t have a vocabulary lesson. Refer to last week’s lesson to review the vocab words, as they will still be quizzed on Friday. We did not get to the comprehension sheet last week, so we will still be working on it.
Story 10 – Children of the Midnight Sun
We will be doing Reader’s Notebook pages 148-153
Spelling: Spelling Lists
We will also be taking the second benchmark test this week. We will be moving to a block schedule with our rotations on Thursday to accommodate for this, and hopefully get it done in one day.
Science: We will be continuing with our notes on the moon. Tuesday we will have a demo of the moon phases where I will blackout the classroom, set up a lamp as the sun, and actually show them the moon phases as I revolve around them with a moon globe. We will also have a fun art project this week. the week will culminate with a quiz on the Moon.
Please remember to continue watching and recording the moon. If you need the info on this again, please refer to the Original Post.
