8th Grade- Physical and Chemical Change

Physical and Chemical Change Notes. SQ3R book starting on page 356.

Law of Conservation of mass- says that mass is not created or destroyed in             ordinary p and c reactions.

Physical change- a change of matter from 1 form to another a change in chemical properties.

Physical changes in nature ex- rock eroding, water freezing.

physical changes in industry – processing sugar cane

1. sugar cane is growing

2.  s.c. is cut

3. s.c h2o evaporated

4. s.c- refined

5. s.c-yum!

same molecules as when stared. it just went through a physical change.

Chemical changes in our world

Chemical changes- when a new substance is formed and their identities are different from the original matter.

changed identities and properties.

new substance if formed

light produced.

fizzing and foaming.

heat is produced

Flamingo- digest shrimp and algae which produce the color pink in their feathers.

Photosynthesis

chemical change in industry-
