  • Finished worksheet/went over worksheet on order of adjectives from Tuesday
  • Worked on “American Gothic” stories
  • Worksheet on coordinate vs cumulative adjectives
  • Read up to and including chapter 4 of “Shipwreck. . .”

Homework: Read for 20 minutes

Monday 10 March

What we did:

  • Brainstormed wants vs needs in a bell ringer
  • discussed
  • handed out book, “Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World”
  • Read first chapter
  • spent about 20 minutes finishing “Zoo” essay. “Zoo” essay will be graded tomorrow.
  • When finished with “Zoo” essay students began working on “Narrative” essay based on Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” painting.

Homework:

  • Read for 20 minutes
  • finish “Zoo” essay if you need to

Friday 7 March

What we did yesterday and today:

  • Worked on “Zoos = Yes or No?” essay and “American Gothic Narrative” essay on UtahWrite.com
  • Collected reading logs (Friday)

Homework:

  • Read for 20 minutes
  • Both essays must have a score between 25 and 30 before you are “finished”

  • “Diamond” words
  • Add details to each paragraph
  • Add paragraphs

  • Corrected quizzes
  • Lesson on coordinating vs cumulative adjectives and associated comma rules

  • read for 20 minutes
  • finish WS on adjectives
  • Zoo essay will be due on Friday

*I missed half of Monday and all of Tuesday because of the flu. On those days, students took the redundancy quiz and  worked on the “Zoos: Yes or No?” essay.
