We talked about sumi-e and what makes a good design as well as how to clean up properly. The following was our lists that should be written in section 2-6.

Good Design for Sumi-e

1.* Use more than three values

2.* Not centered

3.* Not symmetrical

4.* Not from or to a direct corner of the paper

5.* Not lined up

6.* Balance of white space

7.*(F-1) Imaginary root clump on the paper

7.*(F-2) Color (Brown and Black branches, or Pink blossoms)

8.* Leaves or branches not coming from one point.

9.* Free arm movement

10.* [Your favorite choice from class, for example, relaxation.]

( Note: Numbers 2 through 6 deals with the concepts of topology that applies to sumi-e.)

Clean Properly

* Return plastic clean and folded.

* Dry off tra.y

* Rinse out water cup and return to the box on the supply table.

* Wash brush properly in cold water, shape, and stand hair end up.

* Painting belong on the drying rack, in your portfolio pocket or in the trash, except when the final paintings are called to be handed in to the in-box.

* Ink should be closed properly and returned to supply table.

* Clean up your table, and any spills.

* Check classroom and help others clean up if possible.
