Ceramics 2, Tile Coasters & Rubric
Concept: You work at a tile factory. Your boss likes how hard you work and has seen your sketch book. The boss asks you to design four intricate tile coasters that are interrelate for the company to sale. This is a great opportunity.
Stage 1
- Make your design chart. Draw your idea. Write your idea in words as if you were describing it to someone. State two principles of design in your write-up, and underline those words. Put you name, date, and period at the top of the paper.
- In tile coaster format draw your pictures (ready to be transferred).
- Wash your hands.
- Get your tiles.
- Transfer design. Touch up design as needed. Following proper procedures to glaze your tiles. Remember no glaze on foot or foot rim. Set of shelf to dry.
- Place on glaze fire shelf when ready to be fired.
Tiles Fired!
Stage 2
- Get your tiles.
- Cut felt squares, one for each corner.
- Glue felt on bottom corners of tile.
- Line up coasters on back counter with your design chart & transfer sketches.
